Dr Nichar Gregory has worked for over a decade as a vector ecologist in Brazil, Malaysia, Thailand, Tanzania, South Africa and the United States. As a One Health advocate. Dr. Gregory is passionate about the importance of vector ecology research in helping unveil holistic strategies for reducing the burden of vector-borne diseases. She holds a Masters in Conservation Biology, and a PhD and postdoctoral training in Disease Ecology. In her current role, she provides expertise, analytical insights, and training on mosquito and tick ecology for US Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) funded projects in South Africa and Tanzania. Her work focuses on the impact of environmental and climate change on vector-borne disease risks. Dr Gregory has a wide partner network of experts, international institutions and stakeholders, and she participates in several One Health networks and mentorship programs including, Climate-Sensitive Infectious Diseases Network (CSIDNet) and the One Health Implementation and Mentorship Programs. She is an experienced trainer and has developed vector ecology training modules to support local capacity building efforts in Southeast Asia and Africa. She has presented at international conferences and publishes in high-impact journals. Dr. Gregory is committed to attracting new research funds for her fields of interest, actively pursuing government grants and funding from private donors and maintains close relationships with a number of philanthropic organizations.

Johana Teigen, MPH, is a public health expert with over five years of experience working and collaborating on global One Health programs. She holds a Master of Public Health from Tulane University and Johana’s expertise spans capacity development, strategic partnerships, and project coordination in diverse global settings. In her previous role as a Program Coordinator and Research Scientist at EcoHealth Alliance, Johana managed two international five-year projects, coordinating teams of over 68 collaborators, including veterinarians, public health officials, and ecologists across 12 institutions. She excels in data management, having performed all aspects of data curation including the development of a comprehensive automated system to integrate data to reduce manual processing, and improve data accuracy and quality assurance. She also helped oversee compliance with IACUC and IRB regulations, led sub-award contracting and budget monitoring ensuring alignment with project deliverables and donor requirements, and contributed to the development and submission of grant proposals. Lastly, she has experience and training in both quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis, including participatory data collection methodology, and monitoring and evaluation of implementation programs. With a strong foundation in technical and management leadership of One Health programs, Johana is passionate about reducing health inequities through innovative, research-driven solutions.
